I began my real estate career in 1976, the year of foreclosures and bank auctions. (Watch Melinda’s Intro Video Here!) After the first few years in a buyers market, the interest rates soared to double digits; 13%+ loans were common and Adjustable Rate Mortgages or ARM’s became popular. The market took a down turn from 1982 to 1989. The 1990’s brought double-digit appreciation and low supply. The demand exceeded the supply thus another building boom and more construction. The market is experiencing a similar situation to the 90’s; high demand, good interest rates however, land is scarce. 80% of Summit County is surrounded by National Forest. Currently Summit County planners estimate build out in the next 5-7 years.
I have earned the following designations;
Certified Residential Specialist CRS
Graduate Real Estate Institute, GRI
Resort and Second-Home Property Specialist RSPS
PHILOSOPHY: I work to retain my clients for life. I run my business with the attitude of service, before, during and after the sale for as long as my clients want my real estate services.
I have lived in Summit County since 1972. My knowledge of the area, its trends, the market are extensive. My approach to business is to treat my clients as I would like to be treated. My job has afforded an opportunity for me to serve my customers and client as they purchase, sell and add to their portfolios. I value the long term relationships with my client. My job has afforded me an opportunity to serve folks in meeting their real estate goals step by step over time, which is a great sense of satisfaction for me.
PERSONAL: Married 25 years with two grown children. My husband and I along with partners developed the Mount Royal Plaza and own the Backcountry Brewery.
My children were on the local swim team from elementary school through high school. I was vice president of the swim team for 7 years an an official at swim meets.
I taught skiing for Copper Mountain since opening in 1972. I also guided the Over The Hill Gang for 10 years.
Summit County is a magical place where outdoor activities are unlimited year around. I enjoy being outdoors as much as possible.
I want to be your “go to” person for Summit County real estate. I appreciate the opportunity.
