Summit County is home to four excellent cross-country ski centers: Breckenridge Nordic Ski & Snowshoe Adventure Center, Gold Run Nordic Center in Breckenridge, Frisco Nordic Ski & Snowshoe Adventure Center, and Keystone Nordic Center. Nordic ski equipment can be rented and purchased new or used. Again, prices are lower than for alpine ski gear.
- Breckenridge Nordic Ski Center oversees 1300 acres of groomed classic and skate cross-country ski trails through the pine forests, Cucumber Gulch, and other areas. In the Ten Mile Range, the Breckenridge Nordic Center recently added the New Nordic World on Peak 6 and Peak 7. There are also warming huts, ski lessons, and guided adventures at the Center.
- Gold Run Nordic Center offers 25 kilometers of groomed classic and skate skiing trails. They wind through the Historic Golden Horseshoe Mining District. This full-service Nordic Center features lessons and clinics, a ski shop, and restaurant. Gold Run Nordic Center is located at the Breckenridge Golf Course.
- Frisco Nordic Center features 43 kilometers of groomed classic and skate-skiing trails, some along the shores of Lake Dillon. The Frisco Nordic Center also offers ski lessons, numerous family events, and activities along with a snack bar and ski shop.
- Keystone Nordic Center offers 17 kilometers of groomed Nordic trails of various levels. They are also groomed for classic or skate skiing. The Center features a family tubing hill, lessons, and tours, including exciting tours from the top of the mountain.
Snowshoeing is also an increasingly popular snow sport around Summit County. Each of these previous cross-country ski centers feature snowshoe trails, events, and activities.
